I’m Jose Eduardo Goulart Coelho, I was born in Rio, Brazil and I’m 21 years old. I’ve moved to the USA one year ago to play soccer and study at JCCC. I love USA and I already passed through 13 states around this beautiful country. In this blog I’m going to talk about a road trip that I made with my dad (Alexandre), my ex-roommate (Joaquim) and with the owner of the house that I live and friend (Trace).

On this crazy trip we had a cost of almost $0 of accommodation passing through 11 states, exploring places and landmarks that are not so famous, even to Americans.
We had a car full of food and clothes and also a tent for 4 people that was not comfortable for 4 people and made our nights be a little bit less than perfect.

On the first day we left at 6am in the direction of Colorado, and our first small stop was in Emporia to drink coffee and enjoy some daylight donuts for a few minutes. Then we got back on the road. After just plain views of grass and more grass we noticed that one big storm would be in our way and it would have some tornadoes too.

It was a little bit scary for me because I never saw anything like that in my whole life, so we decided to stop in the next gas station to stay inside of the convenience store which could be safer for us. For the first time in my life I heard a siren alert and I didn’t know what to do, It was raining outside and the employees told us to go to the bathroom because it was safer. After a few minutes we received an alert saying that the storm was already gone and that we could continue in our way.

Even with a few hours of travel we had already seen very interesting things like the small but charming city of Emporia, the monotone but pretty landscapes of Kansas and a tornado, but we did not know that at the end of the day would be one of the most beautiful things ever I’ve seen in all my life. But next week I will tell you in detail why I felt in love with Colorado on the first day.

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.
